Description
Sam was going on an adventure. She planned to climb the tallest mountain in the forest. The night before, she gathered all her supplies: a first-aid kit, rope, bug spray, and a wide-brimmed hat. She carefully tucked each item into her large backpack.
Sam had a nagging feeling that something was missing. Aha—snacks! How could she forget her favorite part of the hike: trail mix. She scooped a generous portion into her bag. Then another. The salty nuts, sweet dried fruit, honey-flavored granola, and, of course, the little chocolates sprinkled throughout looked so delicious that Sam’s mouth watered. She decided she’d better add one more scoop.
The next morning, Sam eagerly laced up her hiking boots. As she reached for her backpack, her tummy rumbled. Better add another big scoop of trail mix, and maybe even one more for good measure. Soon, her backpack was overflowing with cashews and dried cranberries. When she hoisted it onto her shoulders, her back ached from the weight. It was really heavy. No matter, Sam thought. I’ll get used to it.
Not even half a mile into her journey, Sam was teetering under the weight of her pack and had to stop. She sat by the river and munched on trail mix. After a few hours of lugging her heavy backpack, Sam finally reached the base of the mountain and collapsed with a thud.
Silly bear, she thought. I shouldn’t have packed so many snacks. Now I’m too exhausted from the journey just to get here, andI don’t even have the energy to start climbing.
With a heavy sigh, Sam turned around and headed home, snacking on trail mix all the way. As she crunched along the trail, Sam promised herself that next time she’d pack a little less trail mix and a little more common sense.
Salmon is a warm pinkish-orange color named after the flesh of the salmon fish. The hue comes from a carotenoid pigment called astaxanthin, which salmon acquire through their diet. This same pigment is responsible for the pink coloration of shrimp and flamingos and ultimately originates from microalgae in their environments. Salmon is frequently used in soft pastel palettes and can range from pale peach tones to richer, more coral-like variations. In design, shades of salmon often evoke feelings of friendliness, comfort, and emotional warmth. The color is especially appealing because it balances calming pink undertones with the energizing qualities of orange. The color’s cultural history extends back centuries. The first recorded use of “salmon” to describe a pinkish-orange hue dates to 1776. Later, in 1949, Crayola introduced “salmon pink” as an official crayon color, helping cement the shade in popular awareness.
