Molly the monkey's family lived at the bottom of a great hill in the rainforest. Typically, it was Molly's job to gather all the food for the family. It was hard work! Thankfully, Molly found a short cut. Instead of zigzagging back and forth all day, she rolled the fruit she foraged downhill to her family. Mangoes, papayas, and guavas did a great job rolling down the hill. Sadly, bananas did not. After a long day of swinging through trees and collecting fruit, Molly missed her family. She thought of sharing the delicious fruit with them and playing silly games with them. Molly sat at the top of the hill, thinking of them, and feeling a little lonely. What's the quickest way to get to her family? Molly made like a mango and rolled all the way down to her brothers and sisters.

Different species have different preferences, but many monkeys favor sweet fruits like bananas, mangoes, and figs. Some monkeys also enjoy berries, papayas, and citrus fruits when they are available. While foraging, they may travel long distances and climb high into the canopy to find the best fruit. Monkeys often eat the fruit on the spot, but sometimes they carry it to a safe place to enjoy it. This foraging behavior helps them stay nourished and also plays an important role in spreading seeds throughout the forest.
