Lulu the lizard spends her days rolling across warm stones, always chasing the perfect patch of sunlight. The sun just slipped behind a cloud, but that's no problem for Lulu. She curls and tips herself sideways, letting momentum carry her towards the next sun-warmed stone. When clouds drift overhead, the warmth disappears, and Lulu immediately begins to roll again, determined to find the sun’s new hiding place. Bothersome shadows might frustrate other cold-blooded creatures.  Lizards need to be warm to move, hunt, and scurry away from predators! Yet Lulu remains unbothered. She rolls into the sunshine, knowing positivity is key to staying cozy in an ever shifting world. 

Lizards are cold-blooded animals, which means they cannot produce their own body heat. Instead, their body temperature depends on the temperature of their surroundings. To warm up, lizards often bask in the sun on rocks, branches, or other warm surfaces. Sunlight helps raise their body temperature so their muscles and organs can work properly. When they are warm enough, lizards can move faster and hunt for food more easily. If they get too hot, they move into the shade to cool down. This behavior helps lizards regulate their body temperature and survive in their environment.
