Some scientists believe the bony plates on the stegosaurus’ back helped regulate body temperature. Stegosauruses had a horn-covered beak instead of front teeth, and their cheek teeth had ridged surfaces made for grinding plant material. Due to their distinctive combination of broad, upright plates and tails tipped with spikes, Stegosauruses are one of the most recognizable dinosaurs.
