Description
Cosmo, the black bear, had heard of the legend of the Moon Bees. These mystical bees made honey from a special flower that bloomed only at night, crafting their honey under the light of the moon. This honey, called Starry Honey, was said to have magical properties.
“What sort of magical properties?” Cosmo’s best friend, Luna the racoon, asked.
“I’m not sure,” Cosmo admitted, “I just want to taste that honey!”
That night, Cosmo and Luna found the Moon Bees. They buzzed and hummed in the moonlight. When Cosmo was sure the bees were out foraging for pollen, he scooped up a pawful of Starry Honey. It glowed like a miniature constellation. He couldn’t resist tasting it. His eyes widened.
“Luna! This is the most delicious honey I’ve ever had! You have to try some.”
Luna shook her head. “I’m still wondering what magical properties it’s supposed to have.”
Cosmo shrugged and continued feasting on the mystical honey.
“Cosmo, stop!” Luna shrieked. “You’re starting to float!”
Sure enough, Cosmo was lifting off the ground. He danced among the trees, rising higher and higher into the night sky. He felt as if he could scoop up the stars themselves. Laughing, he twirled over the hills, enjoying a bird’s-eye view of the forest. Eventually, he grew sleepy and wanted to come down—but he didn’t know how.
“Luna, help me!” he called.
She had climbed the tallest tree near him. “Here, have some normal snacks!” she said, tossing him pumpkin seeds, salmon jerky, and fresh peas from her garden. Cosmo munched gratefully and felt himself slowly descending back to the ground.
He hugged Luna tightly. “Thank you, friend.”
She smiled. “Be more careful next time you’re hungry, okay?”
Black is the darkest color, created by the absence (or complete absorption!) of light. The word “black” comes from the Old English word blæck, meaning “dark” or “ink-like.” In many cultures, black symbolizes power, elegance, and sophistication, a fitting association, given its use in fashion and formalwear. Black can also represent mystery, death, or mourning, depending on context. Its symbolism is complex, making black a color of both authority and fear. Historically, creating a true black pigment was difficult, and people used materials ranging from charred bones and soot to minerals like magnetite.
