Axolotls were discovered by early Aztecs, who found them in lakes around their capital city, Tenochtitlan. These early settlers in what would eventually become Mexico grew fascinated with the creature when they observed its unique characteristics and regenerative abilities. This fascination eventually grew into reverence, with the axolotl being linked to a god named Xolotl, who reigned over death, lightning, and fire. 

This itty-bitty plush is about half the length of a real axolotl, coming in at 3.93 inches tall. It comes in purple, black, yellow, and pink. All four colorways share a plush polyester exterior, and stuffing made from specially treated polypropylene cotton. If your little keychain buddy ever needs to be washed, be sure to use warm water; if it's too hot or too cold, you risk causing shrinkage or fading.
