This remarkable little friend is Truffle the Pig! Despite looking like a regular, chubby piggy 🐖, Truffle is, in fact, very clever. He has lots and lots of knowledge to share with you, but he is also hoping you will share some of your knowledge with him. He wants to know everything 🪐!

Pigs 🐷 were domesticated over 11,000 years ago. They may appear to be dirty animals because they like to roll around in the mud, but their reason for doing this is because they cannot sweat, like we do, and they do not pant like dogs do. The cool, wet mud on their skin helps them keep cool. The mud on their backs may also serve as protection from the sun. Pigs are part of a very unique group of four mammal species that have a special genetic mutation that protects them against the venom of snakes 🐍. Did you know that pigs are probably as intelligent as dogs 🤓? They have excellent long-term memories and can recognize themselves in a mirror. Some pigs have even learned to recognize different kinds of music 🎹. Their sense of smell is perhaps equal to that of dogs. That is how they became experts at finding truffles underground in Europe!
