Dating back well over a thousand years, the boule is one of the simplest treats in a traditional French bakery's arsenal. A good boule in the old style is usually made with just four ingredients - flour, water, yeast, and salt. The unique texture and characteristic crunch comes from the baking method, which involves using steam and a wood-fired oven. Sesame seeds, one of the oldest cultivated crops out there, can be thrown onto almost any baked good to add a pop of nutty flavor and enhance the texture. In the case of the boule, the seeds are often rolled in prior to baking, embedding them in the crust and adding a bit of variety into what is already a feast of different flavors and textures, without making it overwhelming. 

Boule means "ball" in its native French, and this plushie comes in a traditional round shape that measures 17.7 inches in diameter. It's also available as a long loaf, which comes in at 19.6 inches long. The exterior is made of soft plush polyester, while the filling consists of polypropylene cotton down for a silky squish. Should your billowy baked ball get dirty, warm water and a mild soap will do the trick - subjecting this toy to the extremes of temperature and handling that can come with a machine wash can cause fading, shrinkage, and other problems.
