Many flowers are named daisies. One example is the African daisy (or daisybush, Cape daisy or blue-eyed daisy), from the genus Osteospermum. Carl Linnaeus himself gave the flowers that scientific name in 1753, derived from the Greek osteon (bone) and Latin spermum (seed), because they produce very hard seeds.
