The Dragonfruit, an ancient, seemingly mythical fruit goes by many other names: pitahaya, strawberry pear, and moonflower to name a few. Being around for centuries, you're sure to pick up a few nicknames, and this vibrant cactus has changed more than its name as it's traveled from its original home in Mexico. After branching out into Florida, California, and Hawaii, Dragonfruit made its way into Vietnam and Thailand, developing a vibrant rainbow 🌈 of colors and flavor profiles. Having planted seeds and inspiring diverse recipes across the globe, this succulent cactus has certainly left its mark. With a trunk full of stories and history, the dragonfruit is as rich in culture as it is in nutrients. 

Adding to the mysterious allure of the dragonfruit is the fact its flowers are nocturnal, usually opening between 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Its white blooms, easily visible in the dark, attract night time pollinators like bats, hawk moths, and the occasional insomniac bee. Although dragonfruit growers raising these beauties outside of their native regions - which include Mexico and Central America - usually rely on hand pollination for more dependable growth. This is because night time pollinators may not be as common in some areas where dragonfruit doesn't naturally grow.

This not only ensures comfort, but also won't leave stains like its edible lookalike. Your dragonfruit cushion may be cleaned gently with warm water only; too cold or too hot may cause shrinking or fading.
