Axolotl coloration is determined by a wide variety of genetic factors, resulting in a nearly endless amount of possible combinations. Pink axolotls, which mostly lack pigmentation, are commonly bred as pets because many people enjoy their color. In the wild, axolotls come in a variety of tones from muddy brown and albino to pink, white, and even shiny gold! There is one pigment color that's not included in the axolotl's genetic makeup; blue. 

Your new rainbow buddy measures 11 inches long, a length that puts it on the high end of the scale when it comes to real axolotls. It is of course, much wider and taller than the real deal. Your very own smiling salamander with rainbow gills will come with soft plush polyester on the outside, and a specially treated polypropylene cotton blend on the inside. Be sure to wash your friend with warm water only; using water that's too hot or too cold can cause fading or shrinkage.
