The pumpkin is a fall favorite, but have you ever wondered where Mr. Pumpkin goes during the off seasons? That would be Morton, Illinois, also known as the "Pumpkin Capital of the World". Mr. Pumpkin's hometown earns its reputation by producing and harvesting a whopping 12,300 acres of pumpkins every year. This hard working gourd likes to check in regularly, ensuring a healthy supply of pumpkins is ripe and ready for a hungry public during his favorite time of year. 🎃 So when the leaves change and the air cools, watch for Mr. Pumpkin to come rolling through your town with a truck load of orange delights! 

It's hard to think about pumpkins without pie coming to mind. But did you know that early pumpkin pies were very different than we make them today? Early American settlers actually made pie within the pumpkin, hollowing it out and adding the ingredients inside before baking it whole. Although they still added spices such as nutmeg, pumpkin pies from those days also used milk and honey as their primary ingredients as well.
