Bao has always wanted to be a star gymnast, but a problem arose at tryouts every year. He wobbled on the balance beam, lumbered around the mat, and fumbled every twist and leap. Mossy logs became beams, bamboo shoots became vaults, and every tumble and pirouette felt perfectly at home in the dappled sunlight of Bao’s forest. Warm, golden sunshine touches the ancient bamboo forest of southwestern China. Here, you’ll find pandas like Bao with a seemingly insatiable appetite. Bamboo makes up a whopping 99% of their total diet, and large pandas can eat up to 85 pounds of it per day! Because bamboo lacks high concentrations of nutrients, pandas spend the majority of their day, between 10 and 16 hours, foraging for food. Pandas are literally built for eating bamboo. They have an enlarged wrist bone that juts outward and works almost like a thumb. They also have incredibly strong jaws that are extremely efficient at crushing those dense bamboo stalks.

Little Bao is only 10 inches long, featuring a soft plush exterior and polyester shell. He’s stuffed with the softest polypropylene stuffing, making him extra soft and squishy.
