Mangoes got their start in South Asia, well over 4,000 years ago, and their original home area, modern-day India, is still the top producer of the fruit worldwide. Mangoes are known as a tropical fruit, but they didn't make their way out into the Caribbean until explorers brought them into Brazil around the 16th century AD. They often found themselves used in religious ceremonies, seen as a symbol of prosperity and love. Emperors in India particularly loved mangoes; a famous orchard was once decorated with around 100,000 mango trees, on the orders of Emperor Akbar. Today, they're a common ingredient in baking, usually dried and chopped up, or boiled down and paired with coconut, lime, ginger, and vanilla. Mango puree has become a staple of vegan and gluten-free baking, standing in for eggs and being used as a sweetener.

The stuffing is made of a specially treated polypropylene cotton down that's extra-silky, lending the stuffy a unique texture when squeezed. The design features a zipper, allowing you to remove the stuffing for easy cleaning. This should be done with a mild soap and warm water; machine washing can lead to shrinkage and fading.
