Daisy is the initial level in the Girl Scout movement, for girls in kindergarten and first grade. Along the way, Daisies learn about the world around them, from planting a garden to making friends. They earn petals such as “Respect myself and others” and Be a sister to every girl scout”, which they pin around the promise center on their blue vest. The name Daisy comes from Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she lived in England with her husband for a few years. There, at a party in 1911, she met Sir Robert Baden-Powell, who founded the Scout Movement✌️, and was inspired to form her own group of Girl Guides. She returned to Savannah the following year and established the first Girl Guide group in the United States, renamed Girl Scouts in 1915. Girl Scouts celebrate Founder’s Day on Daisy’s birthday, October 31.
