Vanilla is often thought of as a "default" flavor, with the reputation even going as far as calling something "vanilla" to denote that it's normal, or is the base form of something. That couldn't be further from the truth of the wonder herb that we now find flavoring our favorite desserts. Vanilla is a member of the orchid family that's native to Mexico, and hit its stride when people in 17th century Europe, who had been using it to enhance chocolate for years, figured out that it tasted pretty good on its own. It's also used in aromatherapy, perfumes, and more. Most vanilla you'll encounter is of the artificial variety, made from synthetic vanillin. In the case of this plush donut, the stark white of the vanilla frosting is powerfully contrasted by a floral pop of red icing in a sharp crimson streak, along with sprinkles for variety. This well-balanced plush measures up at 15.75 perfectly round inches in diameter, with half of the donut covered in sharp red lines, and the other half sprinkled with more subdued colors. The exterior is made of a velvety polyester that's soft to the touch, while the filling is made from a specially treated polypropylene cotton down that gives each squish a silky feel. There's also a zipper, in case you may want to remove the stuffing to either clean the toy, or put something else inside. If your vanilla frosting becomes a bit off-white, some mild soap and warm water will make it shine again. Be sure to avoid machine washing; the extreme temperatures and forces can cause shrinkage and fading.
