Flamingoes have been chillin' it for well over 30 million years, according to fossil records, and that makes these birds some of the oldest out there. Given how long they've been around, it's only natural that they have a place in ancient culture. Egyptians revered these majestic creatures for their grace and their natural color, while native South American cultures regarded them as sacred, and often depicted them in cultural and religious artwork. Flamingoes can fly up to 15,000 feet to migrate around for the best sources of food, which is where they get their unique coloration; their diet consists mainly of shrimp and algae, which turns them pink. They tend to live around 30 years, but can live longer in the right conditions; scientists often use the health of local flamingo populations, which can number well over 1,000, to gauge the health of nearby wetland habitats. The healthier the flamingoes, the healthier their food source, and by extension, the place that food grows.  

These slippers come in a single size, which should fit most people whose feet run from around US women's sizes 5 to 11. There are two available colorways; one is a paler pink that blends well with white decor, and the other is a more vibrant pink that mimics the color of a healthy and well-fed flamingo, and is made to stand out. The insole is made of a pillowy-soft polyester, while the outsole is made of tough thermoplastic rubber. Though the rest of the shoe is cotton, that doesn't mean you can just throw it in the washer and dryer; extremes in temperature and handling can cause cracking, warping, shrinking, and fading, so hand washing is the best option.
