Perhaps the most amusing known diplodocus fact is that their young were picky eaters, just like many human children. Juveniles would often pass up lower quality plants in favor of fresher, more vibrant ones. Scientists believe this is due to their narrower snouts compared to a fully grown diplodocus, which meant they likely ate less with each bite. Having to make every mouthful count caused them to be more discerning until they matured.
