Cows joined the human herd some 8,000 years ago in the Fertile Crescent, an area where humans tended to pick up a lot of animal companions. Migrating alongside their human friends, the cows made their way across Europe, Asia, and Africa, and eventually all over the world. Human consumption of dairy products has been found to date back 6,000 years, if not longer. Different breeds with different specializations started to pop up, including the Holstein, which is capable of producing up to 9 gallons of milk per day. These gentle giants tend to live only about 5 to 6 years on farms, where their natural resources get milked dry. In many wild populations, however, they can live up to 20 years, depending on the environment and breed. Regardless of breed or where they live, cows have excellent memory, and form close bonds; they often choose a best friend from their herd, and can remember human faces and voices for years. 

The shoes you'll receive can come in a variety of sizes, running from US women's 5.5 to 11.5, and in one of two colorways; the well-known black and white cow, or a brown and white variety. The slippers are made mostly of tough, comfortable cotton, with a soft polyester insole and an outsole made of thermoplastic rubber. While these booties are tough, they won't do well with extreme heat or cold, which means that machine washing and drying is out of the question. Instead, wash them by hand with warm water and a mild soap.
