Bobbie was a Gray bear. That’s right, she wasn’t a black bear, but she wasn’t a pure white polar bear either. When she joined the black bear cousins at their feast, she loved to chow down on their traditional meal. She enjoyed their variety of berries, fresh salmon, wriggling insects, and tender roots. After enjoying that splendid meal, she often wandered a few miles north to her polar bear cousin’s house. There she enjoyed roasted seal blubber, fresh polar cod, and a delicious shrimp platter. After dinner, she enjoyed conversation with her polar bear cousins. 

“We know what polar bears eat, and we know what black bears eat, what exactly do gray bears like best?”

Bobbie leaned back against an ice flow, patted her very full belly, and smiled. “All of it.” 

Gray is a natural color created by combining black and white in varying proportions. The word “gray” comes form the Old English word græg, which means the color of ashes. Gray is often associated with neutrality, balance, and calmness, because it sits nicely between two extremes. It can also conjure feelings of detachment, depression, and dullness depending on the context. Gray is extremely versatile in design, and it pairs well with almost any color.
