Chocolate has been with us for well over 4,000 years, first enjoyed by the Aztecs, Mayans, and other people of that region. They used the cacao bean, which modern chocolate is made from, to produce a spiced drink called xocolatl. When the Spanish brought the plant back to Europe, it was eventually mixed with sugar and turned into the kind of chocolate we enjoy today. Sprinkles, meanwhile, trace their roots back to the 18th century. About 200 years later, once donuts became popular in the United States, the two finally met. The particular type of sprinkle on this donut toy, however, is a chocolatey variety of the nonpareil, a decorative topping that dates back to the 17th century. They started as tiny balls of pure sugar, and were extremely labor-intensive to make. Modern nonpareils are made from a variety of materials, including chocolate, and are used extensively as dessert decoration. 

The donut that will arrive at your door is 15.75 inches in diameter, and features a soft polyester exterior. The dynamic pattern up top is interrupted by a zipper. Underneath that zipper, you'll find a filling of extra-plush polypropylene cotton down, which can be removed if necessary. For cleaning, be sure not to use any harsh chemicals, or water that's too hot or too cold. Doing so will lead to problems like shrinkage and fading.
