Giraffes are such intriguing creatures, aren’t they? With their extra long necks and extra long legs 🦒, they move with a strange mix of grace and clumsiness. But did you know that giraffes have only seven vertebrae in their necks, just like we do? Theirs are just slightly thicker than ours; about one foot (30cm) each! Another feature about giraffes that is uncommonly long is their tongue, which is 18” (45cm) long, black or dark purple, and can grasp leaves from the tallest branches 🌳. The different kinds of giraffes can be recognized thanks to the patterns of their fur, but no two giraffes are the same.
