A long list of flowers bear the name daisy, including Leucanthemum vulgare, commonly known as the oxeye daisy. It is a flowering plant native to Europe and parts of Asia, but it was introduced to North America, Australia and New Zealand. One of the reasons why it is considered an undesirable plant where it was introduced is because it gives an odd taste to the milk 🥛 produced by cows that eat it. A triple hybrid was created, the Leucanthemum x superbum, called the Shasta daisy after Mount Shasta ⛰ because its petals are the color of snow. It was made using species from three continents and is much larger than the original oxeye daisy.
