Powdery, crusty, chewy - this description may fit the average cheap dog toy pretty well, but it takes on a much more positive connotation when talking about bread. In this case, we're talking about our all-new Ciabatta Bread Plushie! The popular baked good from Italy is replicated perfectly here, from the cracks due to the air pockets in the loaf, to the powdery dusting of flour that gives the crust its characteristic multiple texture profiles. It's often said that good artists create and great ones steal, and in the case of ciabatta bread, that applies to bakers, as well. Iconic in the modern day, ciabatta bread only came about in 1982, when Italian baker Arnaldo Cavallari couldn't help but notice that the French baguette was gaining quite the fan club in his home country. The trick to a good ciabatta loaf is to use dough that's extremely well-hydrated, rested a certain way, and blended with olive oil. This leads to bread with a chewy texture and large air pockets throughout the inside. When the panini took off worldwide in the 1990s, sending many a home chef to their George Foreman grills to make their own, so did ciabatta bread. The name is actually a fun poke at the bread's appearance; the word means "slipper", and the bread is said to look like worn-out footwear. 

Traditional ciabatta apes the sticklike form of the baguette, but this one's actually available in two versions. There's the traditional wand, which measures 19.6 inches long, and the round roll, which comes in at 17.7 inches in diameter. They're both made with soft plush polyester on the outside, and polypropylene cotton down on the inside. Whichever you choose, be sure not to throw it in the washer! Those extremes in temperature and handling can cause shrinkage and fading. Instead, simply use warm water and mild soap with gentle scrubbing to get this faux bread really clean.
