Nighttime on our planet is created by the rotation of the Earth. Unlike this toy, the real deal is never fully engulfed in darkness; as it rotates, the part of the Earth that faces the sun has daylight, while the half that's facing away, and usually toward our moon, is plunged into the cool of night. While nighttime is usually when people sleep, there are night owls that live, work, and play when the sun goes down. This is due in part to an evolutionary quirk in humans that's thought to have emerged in order to allow some of us to stay up and keep watch for predators in days gone by, while the rest of our tribe slept safe and sound. 

This stuffy comes to you in one of two sizes; the large size stands 10.6 inches tall, and the small is 6.6 inches. The exterior is made of a velvety polyester, while the stuffing is made from downy polypropylene cotton. These materials can shrink or fade if washed in water that's too hot or too cold, so take care to only ever wash this small planet in warm water, and use a mild soap, if any at all.
